Two wheeler industry in India has been changing over time. Consumers switched from scooters to motorcycles and going back to electric scooters. India over took China to become leading two wheeler producing country about 5 years ago and now the biggest two wheeler producing company in the world is also an Indian Company. Hero Electric, a subsidiary of Hero MotoCorp, dominated the electric two-wheeler market, with a share of 30.3 percent in 2020. This was followed by Okinawa and Ampere, having a share of 20.5 percent and 16.6 percent, respectively. India sold 1,52,000 electric two-wheelers in 2019-20, up from 1,26,000 in 2018-'19. This fiscal year, inspite of the Covid- 19 pandemic, a total of 1,43,821 electric two-wheelers were sold. With the demand for electric scooters booming, the two wheeler industry is expected to change substantially, both in urban and rural India. 1.
