This assignment will give you practice researching an organization you're applying to and writing a cover letter and resume. You will practice creating a resume and cover letter that is tailored to the specific job and organisation and based on your real-life abilities and experience. Youll be using job search skills for the rest of your life. Practice the skills which will help you prepare to win the job you really want.
What you're handing in:

1. Analysis. Using the job advertisement that you chose, prepare a 1 page analysis made up of three parts.
a. The first part of the analysis will give a description of the position and the organization you are applying to. DO NOT CUT AND PASTE tell me in your own words. You will have to do a little research to find out about the organization. For example, youll certainly need to know who will look at your resume, as well as any other information that might help you tailor your resume and cover letter. Dont spend too much time on the research, but you will want to achieve two goals. You will want to be able to connect your qualifications to the organization and the position.
b. In the second part explain to me how you have tailored your resume to this job, interviewer and organization. Explain what youve highlighted and why. Explain design choices and content choices. This is your way of proving to me that this is not a generic resume, but one that is specifically tailored to the job you want.
c. In the third part, write two paragraphs describing the kind of feedback you received on your assignment and what you have done to address that in this assignment.
2. Cover Memo Write a one-page cover letter based on the strategies covered in your text and the PowerPoint presentations. Be sure to follow proper letter format, use the persuasive strategy and tailor the letter to the job, the interviewer and the organization.
3. Resume Write a one to two page resume that matches the position you're applying for. Be sure to organize and word the information and design the resume to match expectations within that actual field. Your resume should be recognizable at a glance as belonging to your particular career field.
