Journal 2 - Setting Goals Using the SMART Model (5%)
This assignment relates to the following Course Learning Requirements:
CLR 2: Explain job descriptions and job specifications
Objective of this Assignment:
By the end of this journal assignment, you will be able to formulate and articulate one personal and one professional goal using the SMART model, demonstrating a clear understanding of how each goal aligns with the five components of the model (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound), and provide a detailed, step-by-step plan for achieving each goal.
Pre-Assignment Instructions:
- To prepare you for this assignment, read the module 4content.
- Familiarize yourself with the SMART Model outlined in module 4.
- SMART Goals work best when the objective we have can be measured. A goal statement such as "I am going to be a happier person and change my outlook on life," is commendable but in order to be able to have the SMART Model work effectively, the term "happier" has to be defined and stated in measurable terms. What specifically are you going to do that will lead you your being happier?
Assignment Tasks:
For this journal assignment, you will:
- Set two goals for yourself i.e. one personal and one professional. Express each goal using the SMART Model and explain in detail how your goals adhere to the five components of the SMART Model.
- Make sure you are very specific in your analysis. A stated goal of "I am going to lose weight in the next four months" may sound specific but in order to make it even more specific is to identify the amount of weight to be lost and then to break it down into how you plan to accomplish your goal on a weekly basis.
