Pour $\frac{1}{4}$ cup of soil $A,B,$ and $C$ into each of the jars.

Fill jars with water so that water stands on top of the sample.

Add $1$ tbsp$.$ of Borax detergent to each jar.

Cover tightly and shake hard for approximately $3$ minutes.

Place jars where they will not be disturbed for $24$ hours.

After $24$ hours of settling, use a ruler to measure the thickness of each layer.
