INTRODUCTION The administrative dental assistant has a unique opportunity to communicate in several "languages." You will be a transla- tor between the dental community and the patient. As part of your job, you will represent the dentist when you commu- nicate with dental professionals, dental insurance companies, patients, vendors, and fellow team members. Patients are often unwilling or unable to ask the dentist questions directly, so they will turn to the assistants for clarification.
