Learning/teaching Philosophy Statement and Paper

In this two-prong assignment, students will do the following:

• Write a learning/teaching philosophy statement that captures the answer to what does it mean to learn/teach? Refer to examples of learning/teaching philosophies presented in class. Length will vary, but being concise and clear is important. Students may also consider creative alternatives to the traditional teaching philosophy statement in consultation with the instructor.
• Write a 2-4 page paper (12 point font, 1 inch margins, APA 6^thEdition style) discussing the origins and influences on their learning/teaching philosophy statement. Students can draw on their own and/or their classmates research on educational thinkers views on learning and teaching. Students should also consider visual representations of their learning/teaching philosophy, and if applicable, include the visual representations in their papers. For the paper, students should include references to influential philosophies and commentary, as well as references to any applicable primary texts or quotes.
