Question:
Like most students in high school and college, I worked in the service industry. As a server, I was required to take a portion of my tips and pay out to hostesses, food runners, and bartenders. I knew the rules when I agreed to take the job, but still, there were instances when I did not necessarily agree with them. There were so many times when I felt, "Why should I have to share my hard-earned money; The Hostess only worked a couple of hours; I ran my own food because X was running everyone else's; The bartenders ignored the well and focused on their own customers; The bartender has a bar full of customers and I only have a couple of tables-they will walk out with hundreds and I won't come close to that!" As a key manager, I had access to the tip-out envelopes and could have easily decided who should get less and why. But I didn't.
Explain this as a moral responsibility sharing values Clarification, and values Sharing?
