Linear programming model problem
Carlsons is a bushes manufacturing company and produces three types of bushes used in washing machines. An operations manager is trying to determine a production plan for the next week. The types of the bushes are named as small, medium and large bushes and they have a limitation on their manufacturing quantities. Small bushes have a limit of 100, medium 40 and a limit of 60 for Large bushes. The remaining data required for this problem are enumerated in the tables Table 1 and Table 2 and are arranged with respect to machine processing requirements. Table 1 contains the availability of the machines and the number of units being produced. Table 2 contains the product data like revenue per unit and the cost of product per unit.
Table 1
| Machine | Unit processing time (minutes) | Availability (minutes) | ||
| Small | Medium | Large | ||
| 1 | 20 | 10 | 10 | 2400 |
| 2 | 12 | 28 | 16 | 2400 |
| 3 | 15 | 6 | 16 | 2400 |
| 4 | 10 | 15 | 0 | 2400 |
Table 2.
| Item | Small | Medium | Large |
| Revenue per unit | $90 | $100 | $70 |
| Cost per unit | $45 | $40 | $20 |
