M1 Discussion: Manufacturing Tangible Objects

In this module you will participate in a discussion with your peers about the following prompt:

Much of the literature on process choice was developed in the context of manufacturing tangible objects. However, most of the jobs in operations relate to the delivery of intangible services. Contemplate the descriptions of process types including Job Shops, Batch Flows, and Assembly lines. How can these ideas be used to improve a service delivery system that you found to be unsatisfactory? In other words use these ideas on process flows to discuss how you would improve a service process that you have experience with. Examples might include ideas like processing orders in batches instead of one at a time, or using an assembly line style process to handle car repairs instead of the job-shop approach taken in most garages.
