M14 Discussion - Security and Privacy 2

Security and privacy are not the same but both are important in informatics or information technology in general. After you have read the reading activities for this module, select a security/privacy topic from below and post your thoughts. If you use web sources, include the complete URL to the article.

• As a society, how should we balance privacy with security?
• What is your reaction to reports of NSAs (National Security Agency) collection of telephone call metadata and collection of private data?
• Will future, new technologies, make security and privacy impossible? Will we ever secure financial and sensitive data from hackers and foreign governments?
• What can or what have you done to avoid security issues such as the unauthorized use of your personal or financial/credit information?
• In the future, are there better ways than passwords to authenticate users?

Each student will be responsible for responding to the discussion question by Wednesday with a word count of at least 250 words.
