Machin Assignment The Steel Company makes three styles A, B, and C of specialized metal cups. These cups can be made on three machines. After examining the numbers of cups on hand and the outstanding orders for cups, we have determined that next week's production requirements for Caps. A, B, and C 1,000, 950, and 600, respectively. The current plan is to have each machine available for 40 hours next week. The number of cups produced by each machine per hour of operation is given in the following table. +Cups Produced per Hour Cup Machine A B C 1 25 18 22 2 26 19 23 3 23 20 20 D The following table gives the operating cost for each hour that each machine is assigned to a particular cup. Note that the operating costs are small. The operating cost should not include any fixed costs. Operating Cost ($ per hours) Cup Machine A B C 1 0.32 0.29 0.32 2 0.35 0.25 0.34 3 0.36 0.34 0.36 It is necessary to produce the exact number required of each cup. This means that the total revenue is fixed and that maximizing profit and minimizing cost are equivalent. Let's arbitrary select cost minimization as the objective function. Solve the problem and generate a Managerial Report to determine the exact number required of each cup. Solve the problem and generate a Managerial Report to determine the number of cups on each machine, and to discuss the post optimality analysis of the solution.
