Major Project - Specific Land Claims Presentation - Max Three people per group

Question: To what extent have Indigenous people in Alberta made gains through land claims?

1. explain the following:
   1. The location of the claim and of the nation making the claim (note: this will require some effort on your part).
   2. The value of land to the First Nation (some combination of Cultural, Spiritual, Political, Economic, Social or Educational value - this can be a general comment, but should relate to your specfic band).
   3. Don't be afraid to reference your previous understandings (creation stories, cultural regions) in building your presentation.

1. Present the main events and issues of each claim, including if, how, and when they were settled. If they are not settled, explain why. A timeline may be appropriate to communicate changes in the status of the claim.

1. Examine each land claim in terms of the benefits or proposed benefits for the communities. Explain any opposition to the land claim, either from the government or from interested third parties (typically private companies that have conflicting rights, such as railway or oil companies).
