Malicious Attacks,$$Assets$,$ Risks, Threats, and Vulnerabilities Discussion Forum

Students will learn how malicious attacks, threats, and vulnerabilities impact an IT infrastructure, and how to apply security countermeasures to mitigate attacks. An important security countermeasure is to monitor the network by scanning for vulnerabilities regularly.

In the lab, they will utilize Nmap commands within the Zenmap application to scan the virtual network and identify the devices on the network and the operating systems and services running on them. The student will also use Nessus to conduct a vulnerability assessment and record the high$-$risk vulnerabilities identified by the tool. Finally, use the information gathered from the report to discover mitigations for those risks and make mitigation recommendations based on your findings.
