Many would argue, including myself that green computing should be concerned with the efficient and environmentally responsible design, manufacture, operation, and disposal of Information Systems and Information Communication Technology (ICT) related products, including all types of computing devices, tools, and machinery. However, we all know that cryptocurrency computing operations today has reached shocking levels of energy consumption. Take Bitcoin for example, it consumes as much as a small country leading many to sound the alarm about the Bitcoins carbon footprint and the sustainability and environmental concerns caused by the cryptocurrency community. From your point of view what should computing technology providers that subscribe to green computing do to help reduce the carbon footprint and the rising energy consumption by the Cryptocurrency community? Or is this a problem that require more than green computing and should not be left to the Cryptocurrency community and the computing technology providers to work in good faith to address.
