Hover over the smart tag, click the arrow to display the list of options, and select Update Format everywhere DateAddedToMenu is used. Click Yes in the Update Properties dialog box.
Make the last eight fields (ServingSize through DateAddedToMenu) Required. The other fields already had this property set correctly.
Save the table.
Create a lookup field by typing a list of values.
Click the row selector of the MealType field.
Type 20 in the Field Size of the MealType field.
Select the Lookup tab.
Select the Row Source Type property to Value List. The Property Update Options smart tag displays when you leave this property. Ignore the smart tag as you will make two other changes to this field.
Type "Main Course";"Side Dish";"Soup";"Dessert" in the Row Source property. Ignore the Property Update Options smart tag.
Set the Limit To List to Yes.
Hover over the Property Update Options smart tag, click the arrow to display the list of options, and select Update all lookup properties everywhere MealType is used. Click Yes in the Update Properties dialog box.
Save and close the table.
Import data from Excel into the Meals table.
Launch the Get External Data Excel Spreadsheet dialog box.
Locate and select the MenuData.xlsx Excel file.
Append the records to the Meals table.
Click OK to launch the Import Spreadsheet Wizard.
Finish the Import Spreadsheet Wizard. Close the Wizard after the records have imported without saving the import steps.
Open the Meals table in Datasheet view. Your table should contain 16 records (Figure 1).
