Marketing doesnt create the need, it fulfils the needs. Marketers analyze the needs of consumers and then prepare themselves to satisfy those needs. Consumers' wants and needs shape up marketing decisions.Consumers' desire to get the product for specific benefits reflects consumers need.
I will illustrate this with the current prevailing situation because of the corona pandemic. Because of few published studies, political heads of various countries are optimistic about the role of hydroxychloroquine in the treatment of Coronavirus. Here is a need. India successfully marketed itself as the leading manufacturer of the drugs, and if India successfully exports the drug to other countries, it would be fulfillment of the need. I do not agree that marketers create the need, but it surely addresses the needs and wants. Let me give another example in the same context, when we open our facebook up or other sites, many advertisements featuring sanitizers and masks pop up.It started only a few weeks ago, because marketers are trying to cater our needs of masks and sanitizers in the times of Corona-virus outbreak.
