A cell transmission model is to be used to model the flow of traffic along a 150 metre length of highway immediately upstream of a traffic signal. The cells are all to be of length 25 metres The q- K relationship is of trapezoidal form, with a free-flow speed of 60 kph, a jam density of 100 vehs/km and a capacity of 1800 vph that is achieved for values of the density k between 30 and 50 vehs/km. Express the sending and receiving functions using units of vehs/sec for q and vehs/cell for k, and sketch them.
