Math 108 Course Mid-Term Project
READ ME: This is the first half of the final project. In this activity, you will research setting up a food cart that sells one item (such as hot dogs in buns) along with any condiments/toppings (ketchup, mustard, relish, onions, etc) and necessary serving products (napkins, plates, containers/wrapping foil, etc.) You may pick any food item of your choice and any wending context (e.B-, farmer's market, pier, street vending, county fair).
In order to earn full credit, your submission should include detailed responses to the following three questions. Once the project is graded, you will receive feedback on your one item business. This feedback will help you improve your work for the final project.
Your typed submission must include the fallowine elements:
Context: The elements of the cost and revenue functions (see 3. below) are well researched. The content in this section accounts for all the basic necessities of running a food cart and reasoning for what is included is clearly stated. Reasonable sources are cited (e.g., online catalog prices, bulk store prices - such as Costcol along with an explanation of why you selected the information resources you used.
Variable(s): Variable(s) and their units are correctly and clearly stated for each function. For example, what variable would represent the number of hatdogs, pounds of hotdogs, packages of hotdogs, or dozens of hotdogs? Does the chosen variable represent the number/pounds/packages used to produce the hot dogs offered for sale or does the chosen variable represent the actual number of hat dogs sold? Will you account for "waste" le.g., some hotdogs are ready to sell but are not sold) and if so, how will you account for it?
Cost, Revenue and Profit Functions: The cost, revenue, and profit functions are clearly and correctly defined and explained. They are consistent with the research done and with how these functions were defined throughout the course.
Cost: Your cost function should include items such as the cost of the cart, cost of paying employees, cost of the food and supplies for the cart, etc. You may ignore the cost of permits, taxes, and city fees.
Your variable(s) are clearly defined. For example, "x represents the number of hot dags sold in a week".
Fixed Cost: Research and determine your fixed cost. Clearly explain what is included in it and why. Cite your sources.
variable Cost Research and determine your variable cost. Clearly explain what is included in it and why. Cite sources.
Total Cost: Determine your total cost function. Explain how you arrived at it.
