Question: May I respectfully request for my reassignment from the Directorate of Administration of the Ministry of Gold. I am a 29-year old Secretary and I

May I respectfully request for my reassignment from the Directorate of Administration of the Ministry of Gold. I am a 29-year old Secretary and I have been working in this Ministry for the past eight years. I have been unfairly treated since I joined the Directorate of Administration in 2012, and having exhausted all avenues for redress internally, I am compelled to seek your intervention as the Chief Director of the Ministry. I come to work early every day, latest by 8.00 a.m, and my boss, Mr. Sintim Mensah, the Director of Administration usually comes to the office at 9.a.m. I have noticed that in spite of my early arrival at the office, the Director does not assign me work until late afternoon, around 4.00 p.m. and insists that I complete the assignment before I leave. I am compelled to work till very late and sometimes get home as late as 11.00 p.m. When I complain, he tells me, You are lazy, stop complaining. He often tries to make advances at me when all the staff leave for home, promising to make me rich if I agree to date him. I commute with the public trotro in the night because whenever Mr. Sintim Mensah offers to take me home in his car, in the night, his behaviour in the vehicle is so offensive. He keeps reaching out to fondle my breasts, touching my hair or thigh and when I push him away, he becomes offended and calls me names. As a result, I have refused to ride in his car. When all attempts to convince him to stop the unhealthy practices failed, I confided in some other officers who tried to talk him out of this behaviour. However, any officer who tried to intercede became a target of his anger. He also swore that I was a liar and just wanted to disgrace him and they believed him. He treats me unfairly in the office. Even though I type all his documents and work assiduously, late into the night, my name is never included in any list of officers due for allowances. His explanation is that I am lazy and just doing the job for which I am paid a monthly salary. Sir, this has gone on for the past six years and although I have been working so hard since 2012, I have never been promoted. Any time I complain about my delayed promotion, Mr. Sintim Mensah sarcastically states that It serves you right, who is going to process that document for your promotion?. Although I have had the requisite certification and qualification to be promoted since 2016, my Boss has refused to submit my name to the headquarters for promotion. My working life has become very miserable because of fear and unhappiness. It is for this reason that I am pleading to be posted out of this Ministry and my promotion effected soon.

Thank you. Yours sincerely,

SGD
