ME $307$ DESIGN PROJECTS

ME $307$ Design projects will be performed using the attached document. You will study and research the subject assigned to you and create your use case. The use case will be explained by yourself and should be out of a realistic scenario. For example, if your project is Fig $14$ you might use it for cargo loading to a vehicle like plane or ship. You will study the need of power requirement for input and output and perform your design accordingly. Again for the same example cargo loading of a plane is done by crates and the crates realistically weighs something like $500$ kg $.$

The design should be made using the following guidelines:

Literature survey with references $(10\%-$ DO NOT COPY and PASTE $!!!)$

Realistic use case creation $(15\%-$ Support your assumptions wisely$)$

Free body diagram and force analysis $(10\%)$

Stress and deflection analysis for one of the arms of the mechanism including the self weight after deciding its cross section and checking it$.(15\%)$

Mohr Circle for the stress state at your max stress point. $(10\%)$

Design revolute joint pins using two of the static design criteria $($take FS $=2)(15\%)$

Design revolute joint pins using two of the dynamic design criteria $($take FS $=2$ and assume your own dynamic conditions like speed, life expectancy etc. with stated reasons$)(15\%)$

Power Point Presentation $(10\%)$

Introduction$-$ should include why such a project is essential and its possible areas of application. Design calculations$-$ should include all the calculations required for the design. All the assumptions made should be clearly stated and later on should be verified through calculations. Final results should be placed in boxes. Design calculations should include the cost consideration at the end. Technical drawings$-$ should be prepared according to the standards given using Inventor. Models should be prepared by YOURSELVES with technical drawings.

Discussion $-$ Discuss methods of the analysis, design technique used results, possible improvements, shortcomings, etc., and derive a conclusion.
