ME 493 Hydraulics: SP 2024 Project
A pipe network as shown in the image is used to provide water to three houses built on sloped land. To ensure sufficient water flow for simultaneous water consumptions and pressure drop in the mainline, a reservoir is added to the pipe network. Pipe lengths and junction heights are shown in the image. All pipes have a diameter of 40mm and roughness of 0.04mm.(:m3min} at the minimum mainline pressure is 220kPa, determine how much of the water consumption of these three houses comes from reservoir and how much comes from mainline pipeline. Determine the flow head and pressure (ignoring the velocity term) at each exit flow node.
Assume there is no pressure drop within the mainline pipe and ignore all minor loss elements. As an initial estimate a friction factor of f=0.02 may be considered for all pipes.
Assume =1000kgm3,=1.110-3Pa.s,g=9.8ms2
