Question: MEMB 1 0 2 3 / MEMB 1 0 2 4 Project Special Semester 2 3 / 2 4 Project Description: Design a truss structure

MEMB1023/MEMB1024 Project Special Semester 23/24
Project Description:
Design a truss structure to attach one end of a stretcher to a rescue helicopter. The downward force exerted at A and at B is 1.5 kN . For ease of fabrication, all members of the truss is to be constructed of one size of welded steel bar from the Table 1, with all members having the same nominal diameter subjected to your design requirement. The weights of the members are to be neglected.
Submit a report on the complete force analysis, a scaled drawing of an optimal design with clear explanation and justification, identifying on your drawing the tensile and compressive force in each member. You are to specify the diameter of the steel har used.
5.4gMe 4
Note: Design of truss structure must follow overall dimension of structure given as shown in Figure 1. However, the length of slender members and the number of members used can be altered for uniqueness of your design.
Table 1 Steel Bar
\table[[Nominal diameter,Maximum Tensile load,Maximum Compressive load],[3 mm,0.5 kN,0.25 kN],[4 mm,1.0 kN,0.5 kN],[5 mm,2.0 kN,1.0 kN],[8 mm,4.0 kN,2.0 kN],[10 mm,10 kN,5 kN],[,,]] Find the length and the force for all members
