This practical test is designed to measure your knowledge of the Lessons in Level 2 and is an open-book test. The project is worth 40% of your overall grade for this course. The project must be completed within normal class time. The project will be graded out of 70.
Create a folder in your desktop named firstname Word 2 Project. Download the Project data files and extra it to the folder you created. Save all the completed documents in this folder as well.
Part 1
You have been recently hired to produce the monthly newsletter for a company called Creative Old-fashioned Living. You have been asked to produce the next article for the company that is due during the first week of next month.
1. Open the file Weekly Newsletter and save it as WeeklyNewletter_firstname_lastname.
2. Make sure that the Show/Hide is turned on and the cursor is below the graphic line
3. Type the following document heading:
Purchasing an Old-Fashioned House
4. Press enter once and create a continuous section break
5. Format section 2 to three columns with line between
6. Use the Insert Text from File command to insert the file Purchasing an Old House below the heading in step 3. The file is in the folder named firstname Word 2 Project in your desktop.
7. With your cursor below the inserted text, continue to type the document text as seen below and remember to press enter as required: {do not create the box}
8. Change the document theme to Retrospect
9. Change the document main heading Purchasing an Old-Fashioned House to Heading 1, bold, and 14pt.
10. Add a 3-line dark Orange drop Cap to the first word in the first paragraph. Remember to change the font colour of the drop cap after it has been created.
11. Change the paragraph subheads Paint, Brick and Stone, and Next Issue Part 2 to Heading 2 and bold
12. At the end of the document insert a continuous section break to balance the columns
13. Insert a Retrospect Quote from the Insert Textbox command
14. Type the following text into the textbox as 12pt size font:
When a house is poorly insulated, heat escapes and moisture develops.
15. Place the Pull Quote centered between the first two columns. See diagram below.
16. Add a 3pt dark Orange box page border to the document. Accent 1 or 2 is fine.
17. Resave the file with the same name and close it.
Part 2
1. Open the document Interoffice Memorandum and save it as InterofficeMemorandum_firstname_lastname.
2. Remember to display the Show/Hide
3. Enter the following text into the memo fields:
Recipient Name: Leo Caliche
From: Add your name
Subject: Subscriber Projections
Date: Enter todays date
CC: Ryan Paulsen, V.P. Marketing
4. Replace the text below the CC: box with the following text:
As requested, the following table and chart show the previous year, current statistics, and the projected number of subscribers for each of our product types moving forward.
5. Press enter after the above paragraph has been completed
6. Insert a clustered column chart, (default option), at the location of the cursor
7. With the chart and the excel data sheet active, enter the following data into the excel sheet starting in cell A1:

8. Close the Excel sheet and return to the document
9. Use the chart elements option to add outside data labels
10. Use the chart styles option to change the style of the chart to Style 14
11. Add the Chart Title: Subscriber Projections
12. Resave the file and close it
Part 3
1. Open the document Hosting in your folder.
2. Resave the document with the new filename HostingComplete_firstname_lastname
3. Reformat the entire document with the following changes:
a. Select the entire document from the first heading Introduction until the end of the document and change the font to Times New Roman 12pt.
b. Use the Design tab and change the document theme to Retrospect
c. Change the Theme Colors to Median and the Theme Font to Cambria
d. Select the first subhead Introduction and apply the Subtitle style and bold dark Orange font colour
e. Format all remaining paragraph subheads as per step 3d
f. Delete the ?-mark box object on the first page of the document
g. Delete all extra blank lines in the document
h. Insert a footer with Grid page numbering
i. Add your name right-aligned in the header and Italics applied
j. Return to the document and add a page break at the beginning of the paragraph heading Indemnification/Warranties
k. In the first paragraph apply a hyperlink to the text www.flatlandhostingcompany.com/terms
l. Apply another hyperlink to the text
