MINI CASE STUDY Scenario: The sudden emergence of COVID-19 created a lot of disruptions for supply chain globally. More specifically, Canada's supply chain was immensely affected with personal protection equipment (PPE) shortages and massive delays because of our reliance on international imports from overseas. Globalization and international business have encouraged outsourcing opportunities for cost savings within the different tiers of supply chain, however, COVID-19 has taught us that this may sometimes come at a big cost. Question 1: Based on what we have learned in class, what were the advantages for Canada to outsource the production of PPE overseas instead of producing domestically? Your answer should be at least 3-4 full sentences long and include concepts that we have covered in class. (5 points) Question 2: Based on your response in question 1, what trade-offs would Canada have originally considered while contemplating the outsourcing of their PPE production overseas? Your answer should be at least 3-4 full sentences long and include concepts that we have covered in class. (5 points) Question 3: Moving forward, which of the 4 risk mitigation strategies should Canada consider to better protect themselves should a similar situation reoccur the future and why? Your answer should be at least 3-4 full sentences long and include concepts that we have covered in class.
