Frame$-$type Screw Press

A $50$ kN capacity frame$-$type screw press for general usage is to be

designed. The preliminary specifications have been established as

shown in the figure. The spindle is to be made of high quality carbon

steel with a yield strength of $40k\frac{g}{m}{m}^2,$ the nut is made of

phosphorous bronze. The $4$ tension bolts $($ A $)$ are made of steel grade $30$

with yield strength of $30k\frac{g}{m}{m}^2$ and elasticity modulus of $200$ GPa $.$

You are required to calculate:

Diameter of the spindle.

Height of nut.

Diameter of tension bolts $($A$)$ if the allowable

elongation is $0\mathrm{.}75$ mm $.$
