MISY 3340 - IS Infrastructure

1. On your computer, open a command line window.
2. Pick 3 different universities. They can be anywhere in the world, (Please do not use lamar.edu)
3. Use the tracert command to see the route through the internet it takes to get there. (Be aware that it may not fully complete because of security settings. The command might time out after a minute or so, this is fine. You might see * * * for an entry also. The return information might take several seconds to respond. If it does not time out after about 2 minutes, use to break the connection.)
4. This is an example of how to use the command - insert the university URL in place of tracert lamar.edu
5. Either copy/paste or attach a screenshot of the path to a document
6. Answer the following questions-
   1. Look at the results, are any of the ip addresses the same on all three? If so, why are they the same?
   2. Why do the addresses change
   3. If you were to run the same tracert again, would you always get the same results? Why or why not?
   4. What information does this tell us? How is this information useful?
