they work in New employees are hired by the personnel manager based on data in an application form
and evaluations collected from other managers which interview and rank the job candidates.
Prospective employees may apply at any time. Engineering managers notify the personnel manager
when a job opens and list the characteristics necessary to be eligible for the job. The personnel manager
compares the qualifications of the available pool of candidates with the characteristics of the open
position and then schedules interviews between the manager in charge of the open positions and the
three best candidates from the pool. After receiving evaluations on each interview from the manager,
the personnel manager will do the same with at least two other managers. After receiving all of the
evaluations, the personnel manager makes the hiring decision based on the information provided and
then contacts the hiring manager with the decision. The decision includes the ranking of the
interviewees. The personnel and hiring manager need to agree on the ranking which may result in a
reassessment until agreement is reached. Applications of the unsuccessful applications are retained for
one year. If the lead candidate does not accept the job, the personnel manager will process to the next
highestranking candidate. When hired, the new engineer completes a nondisclosure agreement, which
is filed with the other information about the employee
