You:

The telephone company is one way to go$.$ They offer fiber$-$optic service and $($ that are appropriate for business use, depending on our specific needs. Of those two options, fiber can offer faster options and probably at cheaper prices, but $n$ of new equipment and cabling.

Your company is in the process of opening a new branch office in a nearby town. The branch manager has called you to discuss options for connecting the new office location to the Internet.

Branch manager:

This is a fairly small office. What other Internet connection options do we have?

You:

We could instead subscribe to $,$ which uses a shared line with other customers. It's cheaper than a dedicated line but might have less predictable performance.

Many services are available via the Internet, and most are made possible by the TCP$/$IP suite of protocols.
