Module 4: Sales Incentive Program

The data is disguised data from a car manufacturer (e.g., Toyota, Ford, etc). The data represents monthly sales volume for individual sales reps for all of 2019 and the first 8 months of 2020.

Assignment:

  1. First clean the data to remove data from representatives who have been terminated or who have not been with the company for the full period of the data analysis.
  2. Calculate basic descriptive statistics from the data including the mean, medians, ranges of monthly sales for each month and year.
  3. Consider grouping representatives into segments (quartiles, quintiles, etc.) based upon sales totals for some portion of the data to help with the design of the incentive program. But, if you dont think that helps with your design, then this is not needed.
  4. Develop a sales incentive plan for the car company making sure to address the following topics:
    1. Who to focus your rewards on: Accelerating the Results of High Performers, Brining up Lagging Performers, Both or something else?
    2. What to reward: Total Sales, Sales Growth, something else?
    3. How to create the rewards program? Financial? Non-Financial? Be as specific as you can here and really build out your program. IF it helps, pick a large car manufacturer and base this whole report on that
  5. The output of this assignment can be either a 2-page report or a PowerPoint deck. Either way, it needs to be visually appealing and needs to bring your incentive program to life!
