Imagine the following scenario:

A friend of yours is the Advertising Art Director at a local ad agency. One of his graphic designers appears demotivated although he is fully capable of excelling in his job. Your friend is thinking about introducing a new bonus system to motivate the employee. This bonus system would pay graphic designers a quarterly bonus based on the creativity of their work.

Knowing what you know about motivation and given the information above $($I know it is limited but sufficient to evaluate$),$ please critically assess your friend's suggestion. Might this be the right approach to increase motivation $-$ why or why not?

Please be sure to respond to two peers. This discussion is a great opportunity to bounce around ideas on different motivational systems. Be sure to challenge each other and provide a healthy dose of skepticism towards each other's ideas. Motivation is a complex phenomenon and any reward system should be constructively debated within any organization to identify the best possible outcome.
