Module 7 Improving and Controlling Process Project
Instructions
In Module 6 you developed the Improvement part of the Improvement and Control Plan. In a long-term project, you may be collecting data over several months to see if the improvement has actually worked. During this time, you will chart your key metrics using a Control Chart so that you can see what has happened to the key metric.
We are going to fast forward the clock at this point and provide you with two months of data for the period after your improvement. Here is what you need to accomplish:
1. Make a Control Chart of Percentage of employees out due to work injury. This should include the three months prior to the changes (Oct-Dec) and the two months after the changes (Jan-Feb).
2. Analyze the Control Chart.
3. Discuss the results of the improvement.
4. Specifically state the metric and how much the metric has changed.
5. Discuss how this compared to the estimate that you made in the Improvement Stage.
6. Discuss whether the process is under control
7. Summarize findings and recommend a next action:
8. If the improvement solved the problem and the key metric has been brought back to within tolerance, recommend ending the project.
9. If the improvement has not brought the metric back into tolerance, recommend and additional improvement to take on.
