Determine the standard time with the current sequence for ten (10) repetitions.

Assume that a study indicated that a 23 percent allowance is adequate for the task.

If the process was changed so that the regrasp was not necessary, what would the new standard time be?

Activity Sampling:

Sheila Jones, Superintendent on the XYZ project is concerned about the rate of progress on the job it is fully staffed, but the schedule keeps slipping. She conducted a brief study to observe the work practices of the crew. The first study focused simply on observing workers at a glance and noting whether or not they were actively involved in a task. The observations for a field rating provide the following data:

Number seen working: 76

Calculate the adjusted field rating index

(Using standard criteria for supervision and breaks, etc)

A follow up survey was done the observers noted whether some workers were doing essential contributory work.

The results were as follows:

Calculate the labor utilization factor.

Discuss the findings from both studies and explain how Sheila can use this information to make decisions on the project.
