Mx. Bigs started a star chart in class where students with the most number of stars at the end of the day could pick a reward from the goodie box. The students were very excited and looked forward to making their choices. After about 4 weeks, Mx. Bigs noticed that fewer students were motivated to make a selection from the box. Mx. Bigs confessed that they haven't replenished the box due to time limitations. Mx. Bigs concluded that: The criterion for making a selection needs to be altered so that fewer students are making the choice from the box. The children need a lesson on how they can reuse and recycle their previous choices. The stars are loosing their effectiveness, as the box has few reinforcing items to choose from.
