Question: MY COMMITMENT TO PARENT INVOLVEMENT Your final task for this class is to write a 2-page (not including your title page or a reference page)
MY COMMITMENT TO PARENT INVOLVEMENT
Your final task for this class is to write a 2-page (not including your title page or a reference page) Credo paper. Please use APA format, 12-point font, double-spaced. The paper will be focused on your beliefs about parent engagement and your personal goals regarding involving parents.
Think of this a little like the Preamble to the Constitution, the Apostles Creed, or the I Have a Dream Speech by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. See the pictures below for inspiration. This essay should have several statements that begin with "I believe..." and "I will.." You should provide your rationale for your beliefs and, when possible, back it up with materials from class. Use brief, powerful statements.
Here is an explanation about how to write a credo statement taken from Pen & the Pad by Noelle Carver 2/21/2017-
A credo is a personal belief or passion that centers on an individual. A credo essay assignment asks you to describe why your personal belief is so important to you. As a first step to writing a credo essay, list things you believe in (regarding Parent Engagement)...Like other expository essays, the credo essay does not try to persuade a reader to think as you do but simply offers one viewpoint -- yours. Create a statement that lays out your belief. This will be your skeleton thesis statement, which you will develop later. For example, if your credo essay focused on the importance of family, for instance, write a statement that makes the claim concrete, such as, "I believe family togetherness is the key to a satisfying life." It is still a vague concept but your essay will then go on to explain it.
EXAMPLES OF CREEDS- (If you write your credo in a poetic manner like these, you will need to use your second page to explain what supports you in these beliefs)
