Week 5- Learning Activity 2 - Conclusion Background: Now, after you read the chapter and read the sample outlines, we will write the conclusion of your speech. A conclusion has three parts: I. Summarize main points: . Summarize the Main Points from the speech Body in an interesting way Echo strong words from the speech and remind the audience of the most crucial supporting material without repeating those points word for word II. Bookend your speech by referring to the Introduction. Use the following questions to evaluate your Bookend section: Do you remind your audience of how you got their attention? Do you remind them of the importance the topic has for them? III. End with Power: Create a memorable finish - a powerful take away or WOW statement - using the following questions. Use one of these options to close your speech: 1. A quotation that gives credibility to your conclusion 2. A rhetorical question that challenges their response to the information you have shared 3. An example or story that shows how the central purpose is expressed in real life 4. A fact that clinches the importance of the topic 5.
