Need help for creating journal. Make a minimum of 8 journal entries, using Word, of at least one entry per week. Aim for no more than 10 pages of text, including illustrations.

Here are the topics for 8 journal entries:-

1. What is communication? (what communication means to me?)

2. Communication Theory Traditions ( like history or development of communication )

3. The Toronto School of Communication Theory ( Other School of Communication Theory)

4. Orality and Oral communication, Language: Word as a sign ( semiotic analysis)

5. The mass communication system (the theories of mass media)

6. Communication as Culture ( Cultural production and consumption)

7. Introduction to Digital Communication (The social Dimension of Digital Communication)

8. Journalism as Communication (journalism in society)

The political Economy of communication

Interact with the media over the next two months. Find a diverse mix of media: News story (national, metro, community); Radio program; TV show; Advertisement; Video; Podcast; Social Media thread, movie.

The media examples must be mostly Canadian (at least 50 per cent) and chosen from the current semester only and must be relevant to the theories of communication you are engaging with.

Ask some of the following questions as you engage the media around you:

• What kind of communication is taking place?
• What messages are being transmitted?
• Who is the audience?
• What is the social context?

You can take a critical look at Canadian mass media but be objective in your assessment. Try not to be simply negative/cynicalbut rather, be analytical. Think about displaying your own media literacy. You must include a list of media references from your media sampling over the semester, as hyperlinks, embedded in the text where relevant.

Keep your tone personal and conversational, as if the audience were other university students who follow your journal on life in the digital media landscape.

Write a catchy headline for each journal entry. Feel free to add a photo or graphic (or a video link) to your journal entries, and dont forget to credit your source. Add at least two hyperlinks to every journal entry.
