Need help how to answer this: Leadership styles can make or break a team or organization. Using specific leadership styles to accomplish goals is mandatory, but the style may change depending on the specific goal looking to be attained. I have chosen a small goal for this discussion because large goals in the organization I work for are met with resistance if ownership believes you are stepping out of your lane. The goal I have chosen is to create a textbook for students who attend the training academy I work for. This would require getting all of the teachers on board and moving toward writing their own sections. In the past this goal has been difficult due to teacher time constraints and the lack of support from the ownership. To accomplish this, I will need to use the charismatic leadership approach.
Having a few traits necessary to accomplish this goal as part of my leadership style helps. I am good at using analogies and storytelling to get my point across. This usually affects students more than teachers, but the principle is the same. "A well-chosen analogy or metaphor appeals to the intellect..." (DuBrin, 2022). I also can change the language I use depending on the audience. However, most of my charismatic leadership can be found in times of crisis. People will follow me into the fray but can tend to be resistant toward my leadership styles in times of prosperity. Ahmad et. al. (2024) found that charismatic leaders can be very effective in tangled environments. This may be indicative of why my decisions are so easily accepted in difficult situations but met with resistance in easy times. Developing this has been a struggle and I will need to continue to find ways to improve.
