NEED ONE 250 WORDS COMMENT ON BELOW POST.

  1. My group enjoyed the simulation and believed it was easy directions to follow and easy to access information throughout the simulation. In our opinion, keeping in line with all three constraints at the same time was very difficult though. Most of our attempts, we had trouble keeping the budget under managements ideal budget. This was due to the cost of labor being too high as well as the schedule being a short amount of time. Whenever we received alerts about the mood of the team members being low, we would try to establish the needed meetings based on what was said by our employees. For example, if they said they were not sure how everyone was contributing to the project, we would add extra time for standups and status reviews so there is less rework and confusion amongst the employees. I found that adding more employees, however, did not help the mood of team members. Even though that takes more work off their shoulders, this leads to more meeting times to train staff and original staff does not want to pick up any slack. The aspect I changed the most throughout the weeks was outsourcing. In the beginning I tried to keep it to less outsourcing so my team could get an idea of what needs to be done. Then, based on team morale, budget, and work complete, I would allow for more offshoring. By having more meetings it had a positive effect on team productivity and skill level, but too many meetings reduced available task time and created stress amongst the team for getting the project done on time. I believe overtime did not make too much of a difference in our outcomes. I would tend to usually allow overtime, but in times we became behind schedule I would recommend it. Our main strategies over the course of the simulation were to maintain constant team size to increase team morale, appropriate number of coaching and meetings for team members to become better skilled, use a gradual increase in outsourcing, and encourage overtime work to finish the project on time. One main internal weakness would be not going over the budget and time frame that was made by management. Everyone ideally wants to get a project done before, but in order to do that, the team has to increase which inturn raises weekly costs. The major external weakness is when our competitor changes their release week which inturn causes the project to match their speed. The easiest settings to control in my opinion were the project progress options. It was very easy to see how the size of the team and outsourcing would affect the task done per week as well as the cost per week. The hardest setting to monitor was the team process. In my personal opinion it was not descriptive enough and not informative. It could have been more informative to what each setting would do that week and how it will affect the team.
