  1. Why name her directly? This could unintentionally make her a target, given there are multiple members of "upper management".
  2. Even if appropriate verbally, in some contexts, you wouldn't want to be this casual with upper managements first names as it can be a sign of disrespect, even when unintended.
  3. This could land a little harsh, no? Why point out "weird" as that's not professional. All written communications are available to the company for review.
  4. Opening w/ a compliment makes the employee more receptive to constructive criticism. :)
  5. If you highlighted his contributions prior to presenting the writing issues, it could be more effective.
  6. Good tone from a team leader - part of, not. How about, "...committed to improving your written documents." rather than learn? - keep the focus on the writing, team, company standards/expectations mores than "Margie said X"
