Needs Analysis
A-Organizational Analysis (2 pages) The organizational analysis involves the study of the entire organization: its strategy, environment, resources, and context in light of the issue or concern.
You will analyze the following two components of organization analysis: competition strategy and environment. First, explain what each of these terms means and then discuss what Wal-Marts competition strategy is. Then discuss the environmental factors that are relevant to your training issue. Ensure you apply these analyses to your scenario and eventual training issue.
B-Task Analysis (page length will vary for each group): The end result of a task analysis is the identification of the Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Attitudes (KSAs) that are required for effective performance of the employees in the given scenario (ensure you include the KSAs for the actual issue).
1) Process: In this section of the report you will provide information on how you will determine what the KSAs are.
Select two methods that you will use to collect information and provide a detailed description of the process followed including a copy of any forms (surveys, questionnaires etc.) that are used to collect or record information. (Details should include what process was followed to gather the information, how employees were notified or included in the process, how surveys were distributed, where research was conducted etc.)
2) Results: Provide detailed results of your Task Analysis. This could include descriptions of the tasks or responsibilities of the employees, the type of behavior that should be demonstrated by employees to be effective and the KSAs required by employees to demonstrate the required behaviours relevant to the training issue. Record the results in list or bulleted format.
C- Person Analysis (2 Pages): The end result of a person analysis is the identification of the Knowledge, Skills, Attitudes (KSAs) that the employees actually have relevant to the training issue.
1) Process: In Part B-Task Analysis you identified the KSAs that the employees should have to be successful in their jobs. Now you need to assess or test to see if they actually have those KSAs.
Select one method that you will use to assess the employees or collect information about their behavior, and provide a detailed description of the process followed including a copy of any forms (tests, role plays, observation scoring sheets etc.) that will be used to collect or record information. (Details should include what process was followed to gather the information, how employees were included in the process, how tests were administered etc.)
D- Gap (1 page):
Since you do not have any real employees to test/assess, for purposes of the project, you will make up what you predict will be the gap or the training needs identified by the needs analysis. Identify which of the behaviours/KSAs your employees need to develop. (Use a list- numbered or bulleted). This list will form the framework for the remainder of the report so provide as much detail as will be required. Your list may include all of the KSAs you identified in the Task Analysis or part of that list.
