New Hire Onboarding Process
A company has a structured process for bringing new hires into the fold. When a new person is hired, the Human Resources department initiates the onboarding process, which has three components: acquire necessary tools, set up internal system access, and complete mandatory training modules.
A new employee needs to be equipped with a laptop, a cell phone, and any other required hardware depending on the role of the individual. The IT department needs to check the availability of the needed tools. If the tool is available, then all tools will be set up eg install necessary software and then assigned to the new hire. If the tool is not available, then the process will be paused. Both the IT department and the employee's direct manager need to be notified.
The second component set up internal system accessensures that the individual has valid credentials to access internal systems such as email and the intranet. This access is expected to be granted within one business day. If access isn't granted within that timeframe, the IT department needs a gentle reminder.
In addition to physical equipment and system access, the new employee is assigned a set of mandatory training modules. These modules are expected to be completed within five business days. If they aren't, both the employee and their manager should be notified.
Once the equipment is delivered to the individual, the system access is granted, and the training is completed, the new employee is scheduled to have a welcome meeting with their manager. After this meeting, the onboarding process is considered finished.
