1. Form a team of three to four people. a. At least one person needs to be working at a company 2. Identify one or more areas in the company that is using any aspect of quantitative decision making as related to Operations Research (OR) or Management Science (MS) a. If none of your team members works (worked) in a company, let me know. 3. Does the company have an OR or a business analytics group? 4. Find out and state the below elements at a high level for the problem/area you have chosen to present: a. What is the objective? b. What are the decision variables (what is the management trying to change to meet the objective)? at least the main ones. c. What are the constraints? i. Quantitative ii. Qualitative (if any) d. What has been the input from the marketing or business office in terms of historical data, market research, or the competition? e. What has been the experience of the company with the OR techniques? i. What have they accomplished? ii. If not, what are they doing instead? 6. If the company has not done any quantitative decision making, a. Can you recommend any? b. Do you know why not? i.Lack of skill set? ii.Not knowing of any tools or techniques? iii. They know about the OR tools but they are not confident how to sue them iv.The culture (elaborate)
