Now that you have read the article At Supper with Leonardo, consider the following: Leonardo was painting a biblical/ historical scene. Since there is no account of what food may have been served at this last supper (maybe there was none; maybe there was some), Leonardo used artistic license to put on the table whatever he wanted. What Leonardo did put on the table was not what you would find during Christs time; Leonardo placed on the table what one might find during his own time. Please write a two pages response paper as to why you think Leonardo chose to add food from his own time, as opposed to a strict representation of a Christian seder or a traditional Jewish dinner. How might Leonardos decision to paint this way help or hurt his work?
