Objective: Examine the difference between leadership and management theory.

Throughout this course, you delved into the various facets of leadership and management, the basic concepts of the four functions of management, and discussed various ways to enhance organizational success. The application of these ideas and concepts set the stage for ongoing exploration in your educational program.

This final paper is an opportunity to develop a working philosophy of leadership and management theory that creates a framework for future application. Please remember, you actually began the research for this paper in Week 1 with your annotated bibliography and the discussions. This paper will also help to create a solid APA foundation for future assignments. For this assignment, you will write a 4-6 page paper addressing the following points:

Create a clear definition of leadership formed from your understanding of the material studied in this course.

Develop a definition of management based on what you learned through this course.

Compare and contrast those definitions.

Identify a leadership (1) and management (1) theory that best correlate with each other (remember leadership and management theory are separate, parallel concepts).

Discuss the areas of overlap you see between these theories

Discuss areas where leadership and management complement

Discuss where they conflict

Discuss how leaders and managers utilize the four functions of management (i.e. do they use the functions similarly or differently?)

Using the information provided about the leadership and management theories chosen, select a Christian leader you believe espouses the most notable qualities you have described.
