Objective:

For a washing machine, self$-$excited vibrations may occur for rotation speeds slightly higher than the critical speed. This happens when the natural frequency of the liquid oscillations and that of the rotating body are nearly equal. The vibration of washing machines is also caused by an unbalanced load. For industrial washing machines, the load can go up to $100$ kg $,$ hence can cause a large unbalanced force. The objective of the assignment is to evaluate the dynamics characteristics of a washing machine and to determine an appropriate vibration absorber coupled with a controller to reduce the vibration.

The students are required to complete the following tasks:

Determine a transfer function for the washing machine under normal condition load. You need to refer to all values based on the actual system.

Determine the load to be used $($source of vibration$)$

Evaluate the response from the simulation using MATLAB or Simulink.
