This assignment is an opportunity to become familiar with A P A citation style. It is also the initial stage for your research paper. Assignment Activities 1. Use this Topic: Canadian Content Requirements (CanCon) are contentious for Canadian governance, media, society and audiences. Argue for or against CanCon with reference to a recent controversy involving Netflix or other streaming services available via YouTube, Amazon, Google, Apple, Disney, etc. Consider questions such as these: Are CanCon requirements still relevant in 2025? Are CanCon requirements enforceable or important in 2024? Do CanCon requirements protect Canadian cultural identity, or do they entrench our marginality in this contemporary era of globalization and streaming services? 2. Find 10 relevant research sources. Note the following. At least seven (7) sources must be from peer-reviewed journal articles or from books published by an academic press. Up to three (3) sources may be government reports (e.g., library of parliament publication) and popular content (e.g., film, website, news item, song). No more than three (3) sources may be from course readings. 3. Write 2-3 s entences about each source. Identify each source's main argument. 4. Write 2-3 s entences discussing how you could use the source in your paper. 5. Write 2-3 s entences explaining how you obtained each source. Where is it from? How did you find it? Why did you choose this source? 6. Select a passage from each source that may be directly quoted in your paper and cite it properly. 7. Check formatting and A P A 7 citation style. Format: Set document margins at 2.5cm (one inch). Format your bibliography using a hanging indent and double spacing. List sources in alphabetical order according to the author's last name.
