Objective: Students will make and use red cabbage ph indicator to measure the pH of various household items. Materials: Red Cabbage leaves Rubbing Alcohol (grocery store) Glass jars A variety or household items Hospital or cleaning gloves. Procedure: To make red cabbage extract, you cut a few leaves of red cabbage into small slices. In a well ventilated area, add a 50-70% alcohol water solution and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Separate the cabbage from the now dark colored alcohol solution. Take the pH indicator that you made and add several drops to each substance you will be evaluating. Record the results of the resulting colors for each test tube, recording the household tem and the corresponding color and your conclusion
