Requirements Response #1 = Reflection Paragraph This piece of writing encourages each student to engage in reflective practice and demonstrate understanding in completing a reflective style paragraph. The Reflection will be based on the reading from Chapter one of the text, Working in the Reggio Way. Specifically, students will discuss how the reading highlighted philosophies not previously realized and how they anticipate their own ideas on the Image of the Child will evolve in the upcoming months. Reflection #2 = Summary Paragraph This writing assignment encourages each student to engage in a summary style writing exercise. This will help the student in his or her academic studies at CDI by understanding how to break down information and paraphrase or summarize it by finding the key point in the writing. The summary will be based on chapter two of the text, Working in the Reggio Way. Specifically, students will summarize the highlights from the chapter. This piece of writing should be based on fact and be written without bias. Only the facts should be presented. Reflection #3 = Position Paragraph This writing assignment will support students in learning how to write an effective position or persuasive style paragraph by analyzing a reading and choosing a position on the ideas. Students will practice stating their opinion and backing it up with facts. This skill will be used throughout the student's studies as they analyze information and begin building their own professional philosophy based on research and expert opinions. The position paragraph will be based on chapter six of the text, Working in the Reggio Way. Specifically, students will agree or disagree with the idea that parents should play an active role in their child's education beyond concerts and family nights. Supporting material must be given and cited. Reflection #4 = Comparison Paragraph This piece of writing encourages each student to engage in perspective taking and demonstrate understanding in completing a comparison style paragraph. The comparison reflective paragraph will be based on the reading from chapter three of the text, Working in the Reggio Way. Specifically, students will discuss how the role of time is considered in their own centre and compare their practices to the philosophies of the textbook.
