bill consists of two major consumption parameters as follows 1) consumed KWH and 2)
Apparent power of the unit. You were hired to visit the unit to investigate the problem. It was
observed that real power demand of the plant is fixed at 20,000 kW whereas apparent power was
33,000 kVA with a lagging power factor. The apparent power bill was 2 million rupees per
month. It was investigated that, this part of the bill could be brought to zero if the apparent power
was brought to 20,000 kVA. However, cost of this solution was not feasible for the plant
administration, therefore it was decided to make apparent power to be equal to 4*(last 4 digits
of your roll number) KVA. For example, if your roll number is 23L-6200, take the new apparent
power to be 6200*4=24000 kVA. The rms value of the voltage across the plant is 1000 V.
For this purpose, a black box was designed and installed in the plant.
