OBJECTIVES:
- Design a multi-stage BJT amplifiers
- Establish a dc bias point(s) by selecting appropriate values
- Design for a large gain, low output impedance, and high input impedance
- Investigate the frequency response of a multistage amplifier
REQUIREMENTS:
- Design a multi-stage amplifier as shown in Fig. 1 as 'Amplification' box.
- You need to have enough gain (at least 80) to amplify your voice signal to hear it at a normal level out of the speaker. (It must not sound like a whisper.)
- You will need to have enough power to drive the speaker.
- You cannot have any clipping of waveforms.
- Your low frequency -3 dB point should be less than 100 Hz .
- Based on Lab-2, it is suggested that you replace the first-stage commercial amplifier by your BJT amplifier design and keep the second-stage commercial amplifier intact. In your design you may consider a common-emitter amplifier or a common-emitter amplifier followed by a common-collector stage, i.e. a voltage buffer (if needed), to maintain the voltage gain.
You need to clearly show your hand calculation and PSPICE simulation results in your simulation report to justify your design. If there is any discrepancy between your hand calculation and PSPICE simulation, you must provide an explanation.
